Thankfully, the family is safe, and we emerged from the power outage quite well. Several hours in Makati for lunch and a Power Books sale also helped. Hopefully, the new books will give the kids new incentive to read more.

Post #2 delayed by typhoon
The title says it all. Soon after I started this blog, Metro Manila was hit by a pretty strong typhoon that left us without electricity (and internet) and water for a couple of days. The winds were so strong that wind gusts were able to force rainwater under our doorsills. And a neighbor's roadside mango tree that had withstood past typhoons came crashing down on their car.
